01 - 2 cups whole milk

# Directions:

01 - In a medium saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
02 - Place pan over medium heat and cook, whisking continuously, until the mixture begins to thicken and bubble, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
03 - Whisk egg yolks in a small bowl. Gradually incorporate about 1/2 cup of the hot milk mixture into the yolks, stirring steadily to temper.
04 - Return the yolk mixture to the saucepan while whisking continuously and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until thickened.
05 - Remove from heat and stir in unsalted butter and vanilla extract until fully blended and smooth.
06 - Divide the pudding into serving glasses or bowls. Allow to cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, or refrigerate for a minimum of 1 hour if desired.
07 - Before serving, garnish with crushed Oreo cookies and optionally add whipped cream.
