# Directions:

01 - Arrange a large rectangular or circular serving platter as your foundation for the display.
02 - Place a row of white cheese by arranging mozzarella balls or cheddar slices along one edge.
03 - Follow with a row of red elements such as sliced strawberries or raspberries adjacent to the first cheese row.
04 - Continue alternating rows of white and red components—use cheeses, tomatoes, roasted peppers, and optionally meats—to form distinct peppermint stripes.
05 - Insert rows of water crackers and baguette slices intermittently between some of the stripes to add texture and contrast.
06 - If including meats, roll salami slices into rose shapes and nestle them within the red rows for visual interest.
07 - Decorate the arranged platter with fresh mint leaves to reinforce the peppermint theme.
08 - Serve the platter immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours prior to presentation.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Zero cooking required—just fresh, beautiful ingredients that come together in minutes, leaving you free to enjoy your guests instead of being stuck in the kitchen.
  • It's genuinely stunning. Your friends will think you spent hours preparing when really you were just arranging nature's best colors into stripes.
  • Everyone finds something they love. Vegetarians grab the cheeses and berries, meat lovers reach for the salami roses, and kids are drawn to the strawberries. One platter, happy crowd.
02 -
  • Don't slice your strawberries more than 15 minutes before serving, or they'll start releasing juice and turn your white stripes pink. I learned this the hard way at my first holiday party.
  • Temperature matters more than you'd think. Everything should be cool when it touches the platter. Bring soft cheeses out of the fridge just 10 minutes before assembling, not longer. Cold ingredients photograph better and hold their integrity longer on the platter.
  • The order in which you layer actually changes the experience. If you build from top to bottom, you see the final beautiful pattern. If you build and then try to adjust, you'll move things around too much. Commit to your stripes as you go.
03 -
  • Buy your mozzarella from a quality source, not the supermarket shelf. The difference between good fresh mozzarella and great fresh mozzarella will be immediately obvious when you taste it, and your guests will notice too.
  • Chill your platter or board in the fridge for 15 minutes before you start assembling. A cold surface keeps everything fresher longer and prevents melting. This single step has prevented many disasters in my kitchen.
